5 Ways to save for your Disney vacation

Budget is one of the main topics of conversation when helping families plan their Disney vacations. I will often work with families to build their dream vacation package and then we put our brains together to work on a payment plan that works for their budget needs. My goal as their agent is to help alleviate that stress as much as possible! So below are 5 ways to save for your Disney vacation that I have personally used! Have you tried any of these money saving tips before??

Discounted Gift Cards:

Target and Sam’s club are both great ways to purchase gift cards at a discounted rate. This is one of the most popular ways my clients will save money because it is the easiest and doesn’t take a ton of time. When shopping at Target you can use your REDcard (debit or credit) and receive 5% off your purchase and this includes gift cards! Sam’s club offers several great gift card bundle discounts, for Disney gift cards it is $150 for about $143. However, Target is my personal favorite option especially since they tend to double up their discounts around Black Friday that can be used on gift cards also!

Sam's Club

Disney Visa Credit Card:

We personally love this and use it for ALL of our daily purchases. Once we pay it off each month we rack up on Disney Reward Dollars and save them for our trips. When clients are looking for a way to finance their vacation I always refer them to the Disney Card since you will get 6 months no interest on your trip (see below)! Most of the time they offer a signup bonus, we received $150 just for signing up but I believe now it is $200. (This does change often).

Once you are a cardholder, you will receive tons of great benefits that I listed below for you. The exclusive character meet and greets are our favorite!

  • 10% off merchandise purchases of $50 or more at certain Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, and Aulani gift shops, as well as 10% off $50 purchases online at DisneyStore.com.
  • 15% off tours at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
  • 10% off certain recreation at Walt Disney World.
  • 10% off certain restaurants at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
  • 10% off Castaway Cay recreation packages for Disney Cruise Line.
  • 20% off select spa services aboard Disney Cruise Line.
  • Exclusive character meet & greet locations at Epcot and Disney California Adventure, both only available to Chase Disney Visa holders. The characters at these locations are “random,” and you don’t know who you’ll get before entering the locations, but at both locations only a few characters appear.
  • Exclusive Star Wars meet & greet locations in Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
  • A free PhotoPass photo download when you visit the characters at the exclusive meet & greets.
  • Discounts to Disney Broadway musicals.
  • No interest for 6 months on theme park or cruise packages when charging the package to their Chase Disney Visa prior to arrival if booked through Disney or by a Disney-authorized travel agent.

Ebates :

This site is one of my favorites! While I don’t shop a ton online I am ALWAYS ordering things from Amazon! This site allows you to shop and not only get discounts but earn money back from hundreds of stores! It’s so easy, earn $10 just for signing up! They also offer in store cash back options based on your location. From back to school to Holiday shopping, you will earn money back on everything you buy. Ebates pays you in check or paypal form, so you can use your rewards however you choose!
Ebates BONUS: When you click this link and sign up for a free account then refer your friends, we BOTH will be entered to win a trip to Walt Disney World! Ends September 30th 2017 https://www.ebates.com/r/SHELBI1192?eeid=28187

Swagbucks:

This site requires you to spend a little more time on their site, but is a great way to kill time and earn money! This will be your carpool line best friend! Earn Swagbucks when you watch videos, play games, answer surveys, search the web, and more! I have clicked the videos and just let them play while I am working around the house, it’s that easy! You can also earn cashback when shopping at certain locations similar to how Ebates works. Use your earned Swagbucks to redeem for giftcards! While they don’t offer Disney Gift Cards at the moment you can redeem for Target Gift cards then turn around and buy Disney Gift Cards in the store or online! Use my referral link to signup and we both earn extra bucks! http://www.swagbucks.com/p/register?rb=38794310

ShopKick:

This app is super easy and kinda fun to use! Once you download the app onto your phone you will earn “kicks” every time you walk into stores, scan barcodes of certain items in the store, and then for submitting your receipt after making your purchases. For families with older kids this would be a great way to keep them busy in the grocery store! Just hand them your phone and let them search the aisles as you shop for the products you can scan to earn extra “Kicks”! You can also use this online and earn when viewing products, purchasing products and watching short videos! Once you have earned a certain amount you will be able to redeem for giftcards to several different places. I suggest redeeming for a Target gift card and then purchasing a Disney Gift Card from the store or Target.com. Click my link to download the app, then use it within 7 days and we both earn extra “Kicks”! http://get.shopkick.com/zinc8507

BONUS:

Starting September 2017, there will be a monthly drawing for a $25 Disney Gift Card right here on my site! So make sure you have subscribed! This will not only enter you into the drawing but will also let you know of other Disney giveaways I will be doing VERY SOON!

We shop at Fry’s and/or Kroger. WE purchase Disney gifts cards during their promotional 4x fuel points on gift card days. $100 GC would equate to 400 fuel points which would equate to $.40 off per gal which would equal $10 in savings off the gift card if you purchased the full 30gal limit.
